Science, Mathematics and Technology Education (SMTE)

The College of Science and Technology supports students seeking to become science, mathematics and technology K-12 educators through the SMTE program.

  • SMTE classes provide content in an instructional context as an integral part of the Teacher Certification degrees.
  • The SMTE program does not offer a degree; rather it supports degrees leading to Teacher Certification offered by other Science and Technology programs and by the College of Education.
  • Students seeking to teach in the elementary and secondary schools of Texas must meet both degree requirements as well as certification requirements.
  • This website outlines the requirements and procedures for completing a program at TAMUCC to become a Texas certified science, mathematics or technology teacher.

NEWS: The SMTE wiki will be redesigned soon. Here's the Future Side Bar.
